My awesome 2002 Mini Cooper S R53 is for sale.
I’ve bought this car in completely standard trim in 2012. Since then it became a mission to build myself the best track day car I could, and she never fails to put a smile on my face. She starts on the first turn of the key, sounds awesome and goes like a well tuned and prepped R53 should. The car has only covered 77600 miles since new.
I used to drive this car to Germany on long weekends, drive a few days on the Nurburgring and then head to Spa for a few more fast laps before heading home. She’s been excellent fun at Brands Hatch, Bedford Aerodrome and Silverstone. In all my time with this car she has never once let me down.
I’ve listed below the work / parts fitted to the car. I had the car on a weighbridge that confirmed I’ve reduced the cars overall weight by 360 kg, she now comes in under the tonne! With the low weight and increased BHP and torque this Mini will shame many performance cars and the double-take in the rear view mirror from drivers questioning “is that really a Mini that I can’t shake off” never lost its charm.
Car Specs as advertised for sale:

Rear wiper delete. Wiring remains, and the wiper motor comes with the car if you want to reverse the change.
A/C delete – jockey pulley fitted to allow continued use of the standard belt.
Headlamp delete, you can still get a daytime MOT if you want to drive on the road (the wiring loom is still present if you want to reverse this change in the future).

The steering wheel and seat airbags are obviously deleted and resistors installed in their place.
In the past I used this car on the road, in exactly the same spec as it is today. It remains MoT compliant, even with the headlights removed, but road use is not something I’ve used the car for in the last couple of years. So, there is no current MoT, but the car was tested just a couple of years ago and passed without issues. This is a track car that you could use for very fast road fun if that’s your thing.
The car has been serviced and well looked after. There are no engine warning lights, oil pressure losses, etc. Never been crashed and has no outstanding finance, not imported or stolen recovered, etc. etc. and the V5 is my name / address.
The original jack, wrench and towing eye are in the boot. Comes with two keys, some history file and V5, plus the Blue Fin handset, and original owners folder / books. Plus I’ll throw in the Haynes Workshop and Performance Tuning Manuals.
The passenger window does not lower and the central locking is “fussy” but neither of these are an issue on the track. The discs have very little wear, but they have gone rusty from lack of use. A good run should clear them though.
No original seats, carpet, door card etc. are available or offered in this sale. This is a track day car with no current MOT (but any inspection is welcome), so you’ll need a trailer to collect it. Or there’s an MOT test center just up the road, where you can take it first, if you decide you want to drive it home (I’m happy to pay the cost of the MOT test).
Also included are two ODB diagnostic tools. These were useful when things like the airbags were removed, as they allow you to not only run sensor diagnostics, but also reset the SRS airbag dash warning lights once the resistors have been installed. Handy to have for any car really.
